The Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met on Monday night and approved the addition of a temporary position for the library.
The position will have a maximum hours limit of 10 hours per week.
The position will be used until the library director position is filled.
The board also approved the additional advertising of the library director position for two more weeks in hopes of collecting more applicants for the position before the interview process begins.
There was a discussion over how the hiring process for the new library director position will take place in terms of how many people from the county library board will be in the room for the interviews.
No decision was made on the issue during the meeting.
The board also discussed $23,000 that needs to be spent before May 15 on the library as a part of its maintenance-of-effort agreement with the state and the county.
The board discussed possibly spending the money on electronics for the staff and kids and the board also discussed purchasing displays that could be used to show off crafts and things created by kids.
Purchasing decisions will be made during the next board meeting.
The board voted to approve the purchase of a positive pressure fan for the fire department to go on the new truck.
The money for the purchase is already in the budget for the fire department this year.
The Caryville Cares Playground will hold its grand opening on April 26.
The board discussed safety concerns around the playground and voted to put 10 mph speed limit signs going from Main Street to the intersection of Church Street and School Hill Road.
Work is also being done on installing curbs, handicap signage as well as other signage to warn drivers of possible children at play.
The board also approved on first reading an ordinance which amends the zoning map of Caryville by changing the zoning for property on Woods Circle from R-1 Low Density Residential to R-2.
