What do we think about when we hear the name, Francis Scott Key? The National Anthem, of course.
When the bridge collapsed that was named after him, I heard some Christian broadcasters make some remarks that our national news stations would not dare to touch. They probably do not even know the story.
I will give you a short version of the story concerning what the words in the song were pertaining to.
First I will tell you Francis Scott Key was allowed on a British ship to negotiate for the release of an American who the British had captured. The British fleet at that time were surrounding Fort McHenry, getting ready to bombard it. Key was told that after the battle ended, if the flag was still standing, both men would be allowed to go free.
Why am I writing about this? The bridge that collapsed bearing Key’s name was only eight miles from Fort McHenry.
If you don’t know the words to the song, look them up. Key wrote the song after he witnessed the battle. The British bombarded Fort McHenry all night. Their main thing was to destroy the flag. I don’t know about you, but all my life, I heard the National Anthem and thought the words were beautiful but never until a few years ago, did I understand the significance behind the words. Why? Because when the secular humanist wrote our schoolbooks, they left so much out, especially how our forefathers depended on God for directions.
After the British did everything within their power to destroy our flag, when it became dawn, the flag was still there! What we were never told was how the flag kept standing. Gallant men who loved God and freedom gave their lives. Men would hold up the flag, and as they were killed, more would sacrifice their life for America to be free from British tyranny. The British wanted to capture America, so they could dictate how Americans should worship God. Our forefathers came to this land to worship God as The Bible says.
Do you see any significance in that particular bridge collapsing? Have so many forgotten how and why our nation was founded?
Have we been asleep? Taking our great country and freedom for granted? We might not be bombarded with bombs, but we are definitely being set up for almost anything to help bring this once great country down.
Do you agree comparing today with years gone by, we have made light dark and dark light, made good bad, bad good? Some things I continue to share because I feel them so strongly. Look around. We are like the Israelites at the Red Sea, and Pharaoh’s army behind them. It is growing late to try to make right so many mistakes our country has made, but if we call on God as II Chronicles 7:14 states, He will surely help us. Is anything too hard for Him?
We are watching Matthew 24 and Luke 21 unfold before our eyes. No one can ignore that. We must pray and trust our mighty God. God bless.
