I could write article after article about God and His goodness and mercy, and it is true. But we must always remember there are steps we must take to claim these great and precious promises.
A good way to start is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
What do you glean from that one scripture? Whosoever does not eliminate anyone that calls on His High and Holy Name! I heard someone say years ago that they believed in God, but you don’t have to get so excited about it. I beg to differ. I think they were referring to how some churches worshipped God. Why wouldn’t we raise our hands or clap our hands to the Creator of life and everything in this beautiful world, Heaven, earth, sea and dry land and everyone in it? So many read the parts of The Bible that will fit in with their thinking, ignoring some very important parts that would go against their thoughts and lifestyle. I wrote years ago about television, movies and soap operas in their storylines, breaking everyone of God’s 10 commandments. Now it seems as if not abiding by the commandments or laws is the normal thing to do. This makes the younger generation think it is OK because “everyone does it.” (Not all, thank God.) The commandments are not suggestions.
Why do I write like this? I am 85 years old and not ashamed of it. God has been good to my family, and I give Him praise for it. I surely am not perfect (ask my family). I have failed God many times. He has never failed me.
Because of my age, being around so many years, I have seen so many changes in our world. People used to revere God even if they didn’t claim to be a Christian. Always in the past when we saw world happenings that seemed threatening to the world, especially America, we were always thankful when it seemed that the danger had passed. To use an illustration, we went to Israel in 1986. The fake news said it was dangerous to go at that time.
Do you know what the danger was? They were throwing rocks at each other. Not so now! In Luke 21:25, we find the word perplexity will come in the last days. This means confusion. Have you ever seen anything like it? Another sign that can’t be ignored or go away is verse 20: “When you see armies camped around Jerusalem.”
To use a good definition of perplexity or confusion is in the past you had on or off buttons, up or down buttons, now you have to work a jigsaw puzzle to get to the same destination. Also on childproof bottles, they should also say senior proof! (A little humor or merry heart there.)
The Bible is full of promises, if we do our part. I don’t see the problems facing our world today going away with divine intervention. We are like the Israelites facing the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army.
There are many threats going on in the world. One is the border. We don’t know who has invaded us. Of course I believe in immigrants coming to America legally. We do not know who is here or what their plans are. I am not politicking.
We must pray. II Chronicles 7:14. Then stand still and see the salvation of the Lord as Moses quoted at the Red Sea. If you don’t know God and His son, now is the time to call out to Him. God bless.
