Allen Smith appointed to Caryville board, officer to be hired

Caryville’s Board of Mayor and Alderman is back to seven members. The board unanimously approved the appointment of Allen Smith to the seat left vacant after Chris Stanley was elected as mayor in November. Smith ran against Vickie Heatherly in the election and was defeated.

“We make the recommendation that Allen take the position,” the mayor said.

Smith was sworn in by town recorder Cheryl Ivey.
