What began as an attempt to scare two individuals left one man injured and one man arrested. On Jan. 8 at around 3 p.m. Detective Sergeant Mike Perkins responded to a shooting that occurred on Little Elk Lane in Pioneer. According to Perkins, two men were driving down Little Elk Lane when a shot was fired toward the 1981 Ford F250 they were riding in. The bullet went through the truck bed into the cab, striking, David Adam Perry in the right rib cage, on the side of his leg and lodged in the door. Allegedly William Craig Duke, 19, 218 Little Elk Lane, Pioneer fired a Marlin 30/30 rifle from in front of his residence in attempt to scare the two men, according to Perkins. Perry was transported to Jellico Community Hospital for treatment, according to a report from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department. Duke is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He is scheduled to be in court on Jan. 22.
