CAMPBELL COUNTY — The United States Attorney’s office has indicted local attorney Johnny V. Dunaway for felony “fraud and false statements” for reportedly understating his annual business income for the 2008 tax year.
According to documents filed in federal court on Oct. 2, Dunaway reported his business income as $344,175.
“He then and there well knew he received business income in the addition to the amount stated in the return,” documents said.
Dunaway is represented by John Eric Butler of Knoxville who practices in taxation issues.
Frank M. Dale Jr., represents the U.S. in the case.
Calls to Butler were not returned.
