Blue Devils hit regional roadblock

Jellico High School’s quest to reach the state boy's basketball tournament ended last week with a 77-58 loss to the Cloudland in the Region 1-A semifinals at Chuckey-Doak.

The Highlanders pulled out to a 21-12 first-quarter lead and enjoyed a 34-19 halftime advantage.

Jesse Chambers, who finished with 18 points to carry the Blue Devils, scored nine straight to get Jellico back in the game early in the third quarter. A three-pointer by Ben Mitchell closed the gap to two points, but Jellico could never grab the lead.
