Board of Ed approves solar panels, bread bids, sale of Ridgewood School

The demise of the Hostess brand has hit home in Campbell County. The school district is now in need of another bread supplier.

Previously, Merita provided bread to the schools, but Merita was a subsidiary of the now defunct Hostess.

Sara Lee, who had submitted a bid last year for bread, was unwilling to do business.

“We have no choice but to go back on the open market and do a solicitation,” said Campbell County Finance Director Jeff Marlow. 

The motion to advertise for bids for a bread supplier passed unanimously.
