BOE approves next year’s calendar, plans to lower ceiling

Next year’s school calendar is official, with slight changes as compared to this year’s calendar. For the 2013-14 school year, students will return from summer vacation on Aug. 9 for registration and attend their first full day of class on Aug. 12. Veterans Day, Nov. 11, will be a holiday. An adjusted Christmas break will ensure that students will return on Jan. 6, 2014, a Monday.

“Christmas break will go through, we won’t go back on a Friday,” said Board Chairman Josh Parker.
