Todd Burgan broke six tournament scoring records last week in capturing the 24th Annual TGA Mid-Amateur Championship at Cleveland Country Club. Burgan followed up an impressive round of 63, 9-under par, with a final round 66, 6-under par, to finish the 54-hole tournament at 203, 13-under par, which was eight strokes ahead of second place finishers Matt Robertson and Brandon Cissom.
The win is Burgan’s second individual state championship.
He captured the 2009 TGA Match Play Championship and also holds a State 4-Ball title along with his 4-Ball partner, Jarrett Sharp.
Burgan also claims the 2011 Tennessee Golf Association Amateur Player of the Year Award.
This makes his first time to win this prestigious award and brings this honor home to Tennessee for the first time in 25 years.
This award is based on regional, state, and national level play results.
Burgan, formerly from Campbell County, lives in Knoxville with his wife, Ginger.
