As the investigation into the arson and burglary of a travel trailer on Walden Mountain continues, Campbell County Detectives have made an arrest connected to the case.
Donald W. Caldwell, 29, was arrested on April 7, for theft of property and burglary.
Tools stolen from the trailer earlier this month were traced back to Caldwell, according to Campbell County Sheriff Gary Perkins.
Detective Jimmy Jeffries investigated the theft that yielded multiple twist and turns as well as fictitious culprits, he said.
Though Caldwell stated he purchased the tools, recovered property near his home in Pioneer tells a different story, said Perkins.
The travel trailer, which was broken into, was burnt down shortly after the burglary and Jeffries said the incident is possibly arson related.
The sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation and requests that anyone with information about the arson and burglary of the trailer contact the sheriff office.
Caldwell is charged with burglary and theft of property $1,000 to $9,999. He is also being held on two previous warrants for a total bond of $16,500.
Caldwell refused to take a polygraph test to confirm or deny his connection with the alleged crimes, according to Jeffries.
