Start your engines, rev 'em up and head on out to the Jellico Classic Car Show this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Park in Jellico.

This annual affair is the ninth of its kind, and has persisted for all the right reasons. The event not only gives vintage car owners the opportunity to gain boasting rights, but a chance for those with an interest in these cars to get together for a leisurely day of food, music, and over $500 in door prizes.

The fun begins at 9 a.m. with games like corn toss and horse shoes being played. Music will be provided by "DJ to the Cars" and Charlie "Rooster" Napier. Tasty treats can also be purchased and will provide a transition from breakfast to lunch.

Those who register before Saturday will pay a $10 entry fee; otherwise, registration is $12. The judging begins at noon and trophies will be presented at three. Cars will be judged on a 100-point scale with awards given to the top 50 present.

"It doesn't even have to be vintage. If someone has an unusual car, we encourage them to register it. Because if they're proud of it then usually someone else will be, too." said Jellico Tourism director Jake Bennett, who not only considers it one of the best small shows around but also as one with the best prizes, too.
