Court Appointed Special Advocates will host its 12th annual Blue Grass Breakdown and Silent Auction Saturday. The event will be held at the Ball Farm from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Local bands Shadow Ridge, R and R, Wildwood Boys and New Harvest will play live bluegrass music, CASA Volunteer Coordinator Christine O’Dell said.
General Sessions Judge Joe Ayers will speak.
The silent auction will include items such as Dollywood tickets, lamps, floral arrangements, a tanning certificate, a barbecue set, a fireplace set, certificates to different restaurants such as Cheddars and Shoney’s, Smokey’s tickets and Ripley’s Aquarium tickets.
Concessions will also be available. They will include hotdogs, chips and Frito pie. Coke has also provided drinks, O’Dell said.
The purpose of the event is to raise money to help CASA advocate for children, O’Dell said. Two hundred people attended last year’s Blue Grass Breakdown and fundraiser, and $7,000 was raised.
CASA has raised the bar this year.
“We’d like to raise $10,000,” O’Dell said a couple weeks ago.
While tickets are now available for sale, O’Dell doesn’t know how many have been sold.
“We got them out there to be sold,” O’Dell said Monday.
Those interested in purchasing tickets can call 562-2700 or contact CASA board members Janice Kitts, Linda Irwin and Chris Cooper. Former CASA board member Marie Ayers will have tickets for sale. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
“A lot of people will purchase them at the door,” O’Dell said.
Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children seven to 12. Children six and under will be admitted free of charge.
