Unsupervised children in a local apartment complex recently prompted witnesses to take action.
On Monday LaFollette Police Officers John Baker, Pam Jarrett and Joe Brown were called to Crown Point Apartments to conduct a welfare check on two small children.
When they arrived the officers observed two children, ages three and one, allegedly running naked through the parking lot of the complex.
After being advised by witnesses that the mother of the children was Blanche A. Ball, 22, of 124 Crown Point Lane, Apartment 203, Jacksboro, Jarrett attempted to get her to the door.
According to Baker’s report, Jarrett knocked for several minutes before Ball responded.
Ball allegedly told Jarrett she had been sleeping and was unaware that the children were outside.
After gaining consent from Ball to search the residence officers recovered drug paraphernalia including a pack of rolling papers, syringe lids, a silver pill grinder and a glass pipe. In addition a small case with what appeared to be marijuana as well as a broken pill identified as Roxycodone was also found.
Ball was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect, possession of a schedule VI substance, possession of a schedule II substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18.
The Department of Children’s Services came to the scene and was able to place the children with a relative.
