A fiery crash took the lives three Campbell Countians on Monday night.

The crash occurred at 5:24 p.m. at the intersection of Angel Lane and Highway 63 in LaFollette.

According to the report, a 1985 Chevrolet S10 pick-up, driven by 19-year-old Joshua Peavley, was traveling westbound on Highway 63 when it allegedly crossed the center line and struck a 1997 Buick LaSabre.

The pick-up reportedly caught fire after the impact.

The Buick, driven by Gary P. Mefford, also contained his wife, Brenda Mefford, both of Jacksboro, as well as two teens and one child.

According to the report, nobody in either vehicle was wearing a seatbelt. The child in the Buick was in a child passenger restraint device, but the device was not used correctly.

The Meffords and Peavley died at the scene of the accident, the report said.

According to the report, the use of seatbelts would have made a difference.
