Jordan Comer, age 7, is a member of the Premier Power Tumbling and Trampoline team.
She is coached by Eric Thomas and two-time world champion Audrey Deyten. She recently traveled to Hickory, N.C. where she competed in the Power Explosion 2009 Trampoline and Tumbling competition .
Teams from all over the east region came to Hickory searching for the gold; only a few found what they came searching for. Comer, a Level 7 gymnast, won two gold medals: one in the tumbling competition and a second one in the trampoline event.
She also earned a silver medal for her performance on the double mini. Comer has been involved in the sport for a few years and practices three days a week, logging several hours each practice.
Next up for Comer is the Orange Bounce, the Tennessee state championship meet that will be held in Knoxville. Following this, she will compete in the Region 5 championship competition in Punta Gorda, Fla.
Upon qualification, she will be invited to participate in the Junior Olympic and National Competition to be held in San Jose, Calif. This is the ultimate prize for her at this point.
Only the best of the best athletes from all over the United States will be at this event, representing their state and region, striving to be the top athlete on their apparatus and level.
