If last week’s scrimmage at South-Doyle was any indication, the Campbell County High School football team could be in for a breakthrough season this fall. The Cougars blanked the Cherokees 13-0 with a smothering defense.

Campbell County’s offense wasn’t half bad, either. Rising sophomore quarterback Ethan Jeffers completed 10 of 14 passes for 161 yards and touchdowns of 20 and five yards to Ethan Simpson.

Placekicker Nate Rudbal was 1 for 2 on extra points. The Cougars will wrap up spring practice tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. with the Blue and Orange Game at L. Hope Dossett Stadium. Guest coaches will be Austin Price and John Brice of Pilot’s High School Heroes on WVLT in Knoxville.
