Junior tailback Cody Blanc ran for two touchdowns and caught one Friday night to lead the Knoxville Central High School football team to a 54-7 homecoming victory over Campbell County (0-5 district, 0-7 overall). Blanc scored all of his touchdowns in the first half, as the Bobcats (1-5 district, 2-6 overall) pulled out to a 21-7 halftime lead and never looked back. Blanc caught his TD pass from junior quarterback Demonte Patterson, who threw for two scores during the game. Sophomore running back Ethan Miller scored Campbell County’s only touchdown on a 6-yard run early in the second quarter. Wesley Cook’s extra point kick tied the game, 7-7. The Cougars’ touchdown drive was aided by a couple of 15-yard facemask penalties called against Central’s defense. A muffed punt seemed to turn the game midway through the second quarter. The Bobcats got the ball near midfield and scored on Patterson’s 31-yard pass to Blanc.
Blanc also scored on a 39-yard run with 1:02 left in the first half. Central scored on big plays in the second half, including a blocked punt late in the third quarter that gave the Bobcats a commanding 40-7 lead.
The Blue Devils were shut out 55-0 at Coalfield in a District 4 game.
