All three middle school football teams from Campbell County took it on the chin Thursday night while playing against some of the best competition in East Tennessee.

LaFollette was beaten 48-20 by defending East Tennessee champion Clinton.

Chris Stone scored all three touchdowns for the Owls on a kickoff return, sweep and long pass play from Ethan Jeffers.

Josh Henry ran for LaFollette’s two-point conversion.

Tonight (Thurs.) the Owls (0-5 district, 1-5 overall) will host rival Jacksboro (0-5, 1-5). Last week, the Eagles were shut out 21-0 by a Lenoir City team (5-0 overall) that has not been scored on this year.

Lane Womack scored two touchdowns for the Panthers, who finished last season as East Tennessee runners-up.

Ryan Weaver added a TD and two-point conversion for Lenoir City.

Joseph Williams intercepted a pass for Jacksboro.

Also last week, Jellico Elementary was hammered 66-6 by a Coalfield team that scored every time it had the ball.

Running back Josh Lay scored Jellico’s lone touchdown on a hook-and-lateral late in the game against Coalfield, the top ranked team in the small school district.

In a related game, Jellico’s junior varsity team lost 8-6 to the Tri-County Cougars.
