I think that the county saved something like 155,000 $, by not fluoridating, a number that can not be ignored.
But why do we fluoridate the water in the first place? It is considered a medication and as such should be considered controlled, but is it? What medical doctor oversees the administration into the water supply? Who decides how much and who recieves this medication? When introduced into the water supply everyone is subjected to this medication whether they need it or not. People with dentures do not need it. Infants do not need it.
Do we not have a right to say no to this drug?
Thank you Melissa for your response and input. Maybe we can get this forum kick started ;)
I have found that "Bottled" water is not guaranteed fluoride free. Some have it, some don't.
"Some bottled waters contain fluoride, and some do not. Fluoride can occur naturally in source waters used for bottling or it can be added. This fact sheet answers common questions about bottled water and fluoride."

More and more research is seeing the light of day about this so called safe additive. For instance:
"Scientific Study Finds Fluoride Horror Stories Factual
Industrial by-product consumed by millions of Americans lowers IQ, causes cancer

The establishment media will have to find a new tactic with which to ridicule those who oppose the fluoridation of water after a major new Scientific American report concluded that "Scientific attitudes toward fluoridation may be starting to shift" as new evidence emerges of the poison's link to disorders affecting teeth, bones, the brain and the thyroid gland, as well as lowering IQ."

Or this article:
"1) Fluoride's ability to damage the brain represents one of the most active areas of research on fluoride toxicity today.
2) The research on fluoride and the brain has been fueled by 18 human studies from China, India, Iran, and Mexico finding elevated levels of fluoride exposure to be associated with IQ deficits in children. Fluoride's impact on IQ is exacerbated among children with low-iodine exposure.
3) The impact of fluoride on children's IQ has been documented even after controlling for children's lead exposure, iodine exposure, parental education and income status, and other known factors that might impact the results (Rocha-Amador 2007; Xiang 2003 a,b)."

At any rate it seems there is now a growing body of evidence that suggest Fluoridated water should be re-examined, and at the very least, debated for any real merit it may or may not possess.
Yese you have a right to say no, go get bottled water. There have been studies afted studies that proven that fluridated water helps with better oral hygeine, along with proper brushing techniques Yes, people with dentures don't need it, but mabye eventually will. The goal is to keep all of your natureal teeh as cavity free for as long as possible. Thing of the cost fo dental exams, x-rays, drillimg, root canals, pulling teeth, replacing teeth with bridgework or dernures for one person. Say that person doesn't have dental insursnce. This type of work could run someone into the thoudands, or more. Now do the math, multiple that number by the number by thre number in one community, pick ome, it doesn't matter which one...So what happens if it is you or onf of your family that gets diagnosed with gingivitis or rotted or multiple cavities due to lack of flurination in the water, I'd bet money you would wonder what happened to that monet the county $155,00? Seems to me, they could have cut the fluff from somewhere else.
