Campbell County elementary and middle school cross-country runners did well during last week’s home meet at Cove Lake State Park.
In the elementary boy’s division, Blake Kibler placed 3rd overall with a time of 7:57, followed by Eric Phillips, 7th (8:03), Jared Bane, 9th (8:06), Timmy Zupancic, 25th (8:39) and Riley Faulkner, 26th (8:41).
Others competing were Nick Phillips, Ty Seiber, Ethan Cox and Connor Baird.
In the elementary girl’s division, Lindsay Horton placed 10th with a time of 9:08. Emily Sanders and Lara Gunter finished in 10 minutes, followed by Chloe Wright, Madison Burris and Kayla Davis.
The middle school boy’s division featured a total of 220 runners and 17 complete teams. Toby Jones placed 57th overall for the Cougars with a time of 14:36.4. Andrew Evans finished 66th overall (14:53.2), followed by Matthew Stogsdill, 156th; and Andrew Prim, 174th.
Once Devan Love is cleared by his doctor, Campbell County’s boys will be available to field a complete team.
In the middle school girl’s division, there were 165 runners and 13 teams. The Lady Cougars finished 2nd overall behind Bearden.
Gracie Faulkner placed 8th overall with a time of 14:30.3, followed by Katelyn Goins, 14th; Kelsey Williams, 21st; Taylor Love, 25th; Brooke Bane, 27th; Carlie Love, 28th; Olivia Brown, 55th; Kendra King, 58th; Rachel Blackwell, 70th; Kasi Phillips, 77th; Amber Finkenbine, 93rd; Taylor Wilson, 96th; Hayley Bates, 99th.
Other Lady Cougar runners were Aubree Cahill, Tavia Moore, Stacy Morton, Bella Luna, Morgan Wilson and Caitlin Davis.
“All of our runners continue to improve each week. They come to practice enthusiastic and show up on race days ready to compete,” said Campbell County coach Ann Browning.
“Their winning attitudes are contagious.”
