A woman who was allegedly unconscious while behind the wheel of her car raised eyebrows last Saturday.

When Lafollette Police Officer Pam Jarrett arrived in the parking lot of a local grocery store she discovered Carol Sue Marlow, 44, of 704 East Beech Street, sitting unconscious in the driver’s seat of a car with the engine idling, Jarrett’s report said.

According to the arrest warrant, when Jarrett roused Marlow she had “bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.”

Records indicate Marlow admitted to taking some prescription medication prior to her trip to the store.

Marlow agreed to a field sobriety test but was unable to perform satisfactorily.  She refused to submit to a blood alcohol content test, Jarrett said in the report.

Marlow was arrested and charged with first offense driving under the influence and violation of implied consent law.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2.
