Jacksboro’s football team stayed unbeaten Thursday night at Cookeville with an impressive 14-0 victory over Avery Trace Middle School.
The Eagles (4-0) had possession of the ball for all but 11 seconds of the opening quarter. Paul Courdle ran for a touchdown to put Jacksboro on the scoreboard. Quarterback Kaine Peel hit Jesse Sharp with a 2-point conversion pass to give Jacksboro an 8-0 lead headed to the second quarter.
On the final play of the first half, Peel connected with Trey Torres for a touchdown pass. The Eagles had a 14-0 halftime lead, which stood up throughout the second half.
Jacksboro will host Clinton tonight (Thurs.) for its homecoming game.
Owls get road win
LaFollette quarterback Ethan Jeffers went 7-of-7 for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns Thursday night during a 32-6 win at Maynardville.
The Owls’ first stringers ran only seven offensive plays before turning the game over to the subs. LaFollette (1-2 conference, 2-2 overall) led 32-0 at halftime.Johnny Oakes caught a 70-yard touchdown pass and returned a kick 70 yards for another TD for the Owls. Tommy Lawson made three catches for a total of 101 yards and a touchdown. Austin North caught three passes for 56 yards and a TD. Horace Maynard didn’t get on the scoreboard until the fourth quarter.
LaFollette travels to Avery Trace this week.
