Jacksboro Middle School’s football team improved to 3-0 Thursday night with a 48-0 thrashing of Horace Maynard on the road.
Paul Courdle rushed for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Backfield mate Trey Torres gained 52 yards and also scored twice.
Eagles quarterback Kaine Peel completed 100 percent of his passes, threw for a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Peel also returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown while playing on defense. Jesse Sharp scored a touchdown for Jacksboro with a fumble recovery.
The Eagles (1-0 in their division, 3-0 overall) led 40-0 at halftime.
Jacksboro has a big game coming up tonight (Thurs.) at Avery Trace.
LaFollette will also be on the road at Horace Maynard.
Blue Devils blanked
The visiting Fairview Rebels shut out Jellico’s middle school football team, 22-0, Thursday night.
Logan Harness put Fairview (2-1 overall) on the scoreboard in the opening quarter with a touchdown run. Logan Duncan and Conner Byrd hooked up for the 2-point conversion pass.
Zack Gibson bolted 90 yards for a touchdown during the second quarter. A 2-point conversion run by Gage “White Lightning” gave the Rebels a 16-0 halftime lead.
Gibson scored again during the third quarter to put Fairview up 22-0.
The Blue Devils (1-3 overall) have an open date this week.
