Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a very bipartisan person; a “to each his own“type of individual. I am someone who doesn’t require my readers to believe exactly how I believe or tell my readers they have to agree with without exception.
However, I feel as though I have a responsibility to my readers to help enlighten them and teach them how to look at their world as being a little bit more tolerable than what they’re used to. Also, when something touches me in such a profound way, it makes me want to share it with everyone.
This past week, a friend of mine sent me an absolutely wonderful email. The author of it is unknown, but it’s something anyone can relate to, even at least half of it. It’s a simple blessing that covers every aspect of your life and well-being. For the last few days, honest to goodness, I’ve prayed this every morning before I start my day, and it’s impact on my life has done nothing but better me as a person.
Please understand that before you read this I’m not trying to push any religious views or beliefs upon anyone. All I can say is that if you‘re a devout Christian or really don’t know what to believe, half of the things in this prayer will help you cope with the daily routines of life.
It says, “Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because you are a forgiving and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me despite me. Forgive me for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to You. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things and people. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. And give the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
“Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood, and forgive me when I do misjudge and misunderstand others. Only you can walk a mile in their shoes.
“But I thank you that I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace , love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight…Amen.”
Sometimes, life can get us down to the point where we don’t know which way is up or when our dreams will ever become a reality. Let me assure you, dear readers, that as long as we keep a positive outlook on things, despite how we feel, we will eventually crawl out of the bottomless pits of anguish and shattered dreams, and understand that darkness eventually gives way to the morning.
And what a beautiful morning it’s going to be!
