Police are investigating a possible hit and run fatality that occurred Tuesday night.
Just after 11 p.m. Terenia D. Grubbs, of Middlesboro, Ky., was crossing Highway 25W in Jacksboro when she was struck by a vehicle. It was believed at that time the vehicle was a white pick up truck. Reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicate the vehicle fled the scene.
Grubbs was later pronounced dead. She had allegedly been drinking, the THP report said.
On Wednesday morning, a female surrendered to authorities claiming she had been the driver, according to Campbell County Chief Deputy Aaron Evans. However, THP cited the incident as an ongoing investigation and declined to release any further information.
