House fire claims one life; two others hang in balance

A morning house fire has claimed the life of a child as his sibling and mother continue to fight to live.

 The victim’s were in route to UT Medical Center via Life Star with lifesaving measures taking place at 11 a.m.

LaFollette Fire Department was the first on the scene at around 10:15 a.m. Fire fighters began putting out the fire when they learned the residents may still be inside, said Fire Chief Gary Byrd.

A six-month-old, two to three year old and an adult female where taken from the charred house as black smoke billowed from within. Each was supplied with oxygen. CPR was administered to the toddler and female until ambulance workers arrived.

The two children and adult lay unmoving on the stretchers, as they were loaded into the ambulance.

Confirmation was received at 11:40 a.m. that the male toddler did not survive.
