SPEEDWELL—Two Speedwell residents are behind bars after police responded to a call about an alleged burglary.
Jessica Shown, 19, 1877 Flat Hollow Rd., Speedwell, called police on Aug. 9 to report that she was hiding in her bathroom because there was an intruder in her home.
When Campbell County Sheriff’s Officer Josh Vann arrived at the scene, he reportedly encountered a “chemical odor commonly associated with meth labs,” the report said.
Shown had left the bathroom and was sitting on the front walk at the home.
She “appeared to be in the tweaking stage of meth use and could not identify who came in on her,” according to deputy reports.
Shown reportedly said the intruders had left just prior to [Vann’s] arrival,”

according to reports from police.
The only other person at the home was Shown’s husband, 34-year-old Donald Bradley Shown.
Vann reportedly read the Showns their rights and was given consent to search the home where he found a garbage bag containing three bottles that appeared to have been used to make meth, police said.
The couple were arrested and charged with promotion of meth manufacture.
