Inmate busted smuggling morphine, other contraband into county jail

CAMPBELL COUNTY—County jail officials recovered pills, tobacco and an unidentified powder after an inmate allegedly tried to smuggle the contraband into the facility earlier this month.
While being booked, corrections officer Anita Goins and the nurse reportedly took Jessica Lynn Morgan, 24, 1527 Long Hollow Road, LaFollette, into the bathroom of the county jail July 17 to be searched, records indicated.
During the search, they recovered a bag containing a brown leafy substance believed to be tobacco, two orange pills believed to be morphine sulfate, one orange strip believed to be Suboxone, six white pills believed to be Oxycodone, and a blue unidentified powder, from Morgan’s possession.
Morgan was charged with violation of probation, introduction of contraband into a penal facility, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a schedule III controlled substance.
