Inmate dies following incarceration

A county inmate has died after being found unconscious in her cell.

On Wednesday, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department reported that on Tuesday morning Sheila Jean Riggs, 40, of LaFollette was found and appeared to be suffering from cardiac arrest. She had been incarcerated less than 24 hours

In a press release Sheriff Gary Perkins said corrections officers found Riggs at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and immediately began administering CPR.
