Jellico Electric and Water Systems could find itself in the banking business depending on what the comptroller says.
In a Jan. 14 letter from Jellico Mayor Les Stiers to the comptroller’s office, he outlines some of the town’s financial troubles, and then asks for approval to request a $225,000 loan from the utility service.
“My message to the comptroller is there up front. We have three large ominous bills staring us in the face,” Stiers said on Tuesday.
