JELLICO—Mayor Les Stiers, the board of aldermen and the town recorder are set to attend a two-day training session presented by the Municipal Technical Advisory Service.
Several MTAS instructors will travel to Jellico for the two-day session set to begin on Jan. 24. Topics covered will include foundations and structures, ethics and open meetings, charters and open records, as well as finance and how the board should function.
The training comes as a stipulation from the state comptroller’s office. The town must complete the training in order to be eligible for a funding bond that will consolidate the town’s debt.
“I make a motion to approve it. I need it. I want it,” said board newcomer Wanda Perkins.
The training will cost the town $200 per participant — a total of $1,600.
