Jellico Police Department was swamped this Fourth of July weekend with an abundance of complaints and citations, all of which occurred in a 36-hour period.
There was a total of 86 citations written; six being drug related and ranging from drug possession to illegal prescriptions.
A few complaints were made about fireworks, but in none of those situations was the activity illegal. With 33 complaints made over the weekend officers were kept busy.
Despite all this activity only three arrests were made within those 36 hours. Those being for DUI, felony reckless endangerment, and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
They also confiscated three firearms—two handguns and one shotgun.
