A traffic stop cut a Caryville man’s Christmas celebration short.

On Dec. 26 Jacksboro Police Officer Greg Cox stopped a vehicle that was traveling north on Eagle Bluff Road with no taillights.

When the car stopped Cox observed the driver, Joseph Ray Jones, 51, of 130 Hickory Lane, Caryville, get out and place an object in front of the parked vehicle.

Upon further investigation Cox discovered a box that allegedly contained a small amount of marijuana as well as three pills identified as a legend drug.

Jones was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule VI substance, possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8.
