As sheriff’s deputy Jeremy Myers interviewed a victim of domestic violence at the hospital, a dispatch call to a suspicious person led Myers straight to the woman’s alleged perpetrator.
On April 4, Myers left the hospital in route to Sugar Hollow Road in response to a suspicious person, said Campbell County Sheriff Gary Perkins.
During Myer’s conversation with Joseph Crockett King, 26, of LaFollette, he realized King was the same person believed to have assaulted the woman at the hospital, he said.
King allegedly assaulted his mother with a pool stick, said Detective Brandon Elkins.
However, when Myer’s attempted to place King under arrest, King became very aggressive, said Perkins.
“It was a fight to place him under arrest,” said Elkins.
King was charged with aggravated assault, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in court for the charges on April 17.
