JACKSBORO—Hannah Owens scored 14 points and Jamie Mynatt chipped in 13 last Friday night to lead the Campbell County High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 63-32 rout of Knoxville Central.
Also scoring for the Lady Cougars (6-4 district, 8-10 overall) was Kendra King with 9, Whitney Sawyer 7, Amber Guy 6, Chelsey Finkenbine and Brooke Bane 4 each and Olivia Brown, Michaela Smith and Megan Caudill 2 each.
“I thought we did a good job in the first quarter turning their mistakes into points,” said Campbell County coach Ryan Browning. “I thought our bench had good minutes and shot the ball well. We did a good job generating more shot attempts. Not having more shot attempts has been one of our problems in our losses.”
The Lady Cougars rolled to a 20-4 lead after one quarter and held a 32-19 advantage at intermission. Campbell County outscored Central 31-17 in the second half to salt away the victory.
Keely Yeary led the Lady Bobcats with 13 points and was the only member of her team to reach double figures in scoring.
