Campbell County High School’s volleyball team ended its season this week with a first-round loss to Knoxville Central in the District 3-AAA Tournament at Oak Ridge.

The Lady Bobcats won the “best three out of five” match to advance to a second-round game against top-seeded Karns. Central is the only district team to have taken a match from Karns this season.

“We had a slow start, but the last two games were competitive,” said first-year Campbell County coach David Seals.

“We had a lead in the second game and tied them twice in the third.”

Whitney Garner, the Lady Cougars’ junior setter, was selected to the all-tournament team by the district coaches.

Campbell County will lose four seniors to graduation: Kelli Bolton, Haleigh Gulley, Hollie Shipley and Gabby Brown. The Lady Cougars will return several players on varsity and from a junior varsity squad that finished 8-5 this year with big district wins over Knox Halls and Clinton.
