The LaFollette City Council reconvened Tuesday night to accept bids for three roofing projects.
These projects will repair the roofs at fire hall three, West LaFollette Community Center and East LaFollette Community Center.
H Group Construction had the lowest bid, $31,800, for the fire hall three project. Dixie Roofing had the low bid, $148,970, for the East LaFollette Community Center project, and the low bid, $169,284, for the West LaFollette Community Center project.
Council member Joe Bolinger made a motion to give approval to each project to the low bidders without giving them $25,000 discretionary money. Originally, in addition to the price of the bid, the city of LaFollette would pay $10,000 for the West LaFollette Community Center project, $10,000 for the East LaFollette Community Center project and $5,000 for fire hall three project to pay for such expenses as change orders. Bolinger’s motion eliminated the extra expense. His motion passed, awarding H Group construction the fire hall three project and Dixie Roofing the West LaFollette Community Center and East LaFollette Community Center projects.
Bids for these projects were originally opened on Aug. 23, but couldn’t be accepted because they didn’t conform to the minutes of the Aug. 7 meeting. The city council had voted to bid the projects separately, but they were advertised as a package. At the Sept. 4 meeting, the city council voted to rebid them as separate projects.
