At its meeting on July 3, the LaFollette City Council voted to terminate Michael Lowe and Tim Rupp, employees of the Public Works Department.

“Jim, would you like to make a comment?” Mayor Mike Stanfield asked Public Works Department Head Jim Mullins.

“I concur,” Mullins said.

Speed limit

The council approved changing the speed limit on West Fir Street from 30 miles per hour to 15 miles per hour.

Audit contract

The council also approved an audit contract with Pugh and Company for the 2012-13 budget. The contract cannot exceed $55,000.

At the workshop on June 25, Stanfield had suggested making an ordinance keeping people from walking dogs in Sergeant’s Park. There isn’t a comprehensive ordinance with regulations for all the parks and recreational facilities in LaFollette. City attorney Reid Troutman plans to create one, including Stanfield’s recommended restrictions. This ordinance will include regulations for such facilities as Splash Parks and East LaFollette. Troutman intends to introduce it at the next workshop.
