LAKE CITY—Lake City could soon have a theme park similar to Dollywood, but with a coal mining motif. Anderson County commissioner Tim Isbel, who represents Lake City, brought Knoxville developer Buddy Warren to a budget meeting last week to pitch the idea to city council. The theme park would include a sports museum and amphitheatre. There will likely be future meetings between Warren and councilmen. There has been widespread rumor that, as a condition for pumping millions of dollars into a theme park at Lake City, Warren insisted at the meeting that Lake City change its name to Rocky Top to go along with the coal-mining theme. However, that rumor is unfounded, according to an unnamed Lake City official. The official went on to say Warren did tell councilmen that Rocky Top, Tennessee, would be a nice name to go along with the theme park.

Warren is owner of Rocky Top Products, Inc., Rocky Top Beer, Inc. and Rocky Top Moonshine, Inc. all at 790 N. Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville.
