Local woodworker builds 24-unit purple martin house

-A A +A

By PETER SAWYER

Local woodworker Lee “Doc” Friemoth has fashioned a home for 24 purple martins.
Friemoth, 83, is originally from Wisconsin, but moved to LaFollette about 13 years ago.
He spends much of his free time cabinet making and fashioning various things out of wood.
“It’s my hobby,” Friemoth said. “I do it to enjoy myself. I do it to make a little money, but not a lot. As long as I get my expenses back (that’s enough).”
One of his most recent projects was the purple martin house.
