A couple whom police say endangered the lives of an adult and three juveniles have been indicted by a grand jury.

Jerry S. Massengill and Ann N. Massengill were indicted last week on four counts of attempted murder each for the October incident.

The Massengills are accused of following an SUV loaded with four people and repeatedly firing into it.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 12, the couple got behind the SUV and followed the driver onto his property, Jacksboro Police Chief Danny Chapman said. It was at that this point Jerry Massengill displayed a weapon, according to Chapman

This prompted the driver of the SUV to leave and drive around the block with the Massengills in pursuit.

As the group traveled on Paris Nance Lane, shots were fired from the Massengills’ vehicle, police said. It was estimated that two to five shots were fired. The chase continued for another two blocks until the believed victims found a police officer. Chapman said this ended the pursuit.

Four days later the couple was arrested while in court on an unrelated case.
