When truth stumbles in the street
The sovereignty of God and the free will of man are parallel truths that we experience as we move toward the coming of the Son of Man.
God makes it clear in His word that what He decides is greatly dependent on the behavior of man- eternal life or judgment.
As we look at our national situation through the study of Scripture. May God awaken us to His righteousness.
When we read the Old Testament Scriptures, we might fall into thinking that the only nation God holds accountable is the nation of Israel. Read Ezekiel 14:12-21. Here God is truly singling out countries that sin against Him by committing unfaithfulness. Verse 21 states how terrible it will be when God sends out His judgments against them. What is the conclusion?
All nations- including America are accountable to the one who, according to Acts 17:24-31, ordained them.
Look at the moral status of our nation today.
How do we measure up to the commandments of God? His word? His precepts? Have we as a nation ever known such rebellion? Such disregard for God’s word? We can’t use an excuse such as we don’t know better. America has more Bibles and more versions of the Bible than any other nation in the world.
Even now we are experiencing God’s judgments, and many don’t even know it. And those who proclaim and hold to truth are being damned and accused. As Isaiah 59:14-15 says, “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the street, and uprightness cannot enter. Yes, truth is lacking; and he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey.”
When truth stumbles in the streets, and uprightness is held at bay, you have a society that sins with impunity. Sin is committed without apology or shame. Why? Because it is not considered wrong. Rather than being treated as a transgression, sin is accepted. There was a day when sin was not flaunted in the face of society. For society and the law held you accountable. In that day it was safe for children to play in the streets- or grow in the womb. America is at a crossroads-we are experiencing the judgment of God and there is more on the horizon if we don’t pray and repent. America is a bloody nation. People being murdered every day and we’re guilty of shedding the innocent blood of millions of unborn babies.
As we read Ezekiel 22:2-12, it send up a blood-red flare of warning against the dark night of America’s soul. As you read, take note of all the places you read about the shedding of blood, and the other acts of sinful abominations and lewdness. “You have forgotten me, declares the Lord God” verse 12.
There is only one way to take care of sin: Repent- have a change of mind; line up your beliefs with the Word of God and believe in Jesus. Name sin for what it is and confess it to God.
The Son of God paid for the sins of the world in full by shedding His blood and dying in our place because He was without sin. He was buried but God raised His Son from the dead to die no more. Therefore those who truly agree with the righteousness of God and confess their sins and believe will be forgiven. Romans 6:23- “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
I pray that as you think of our abominations as a nation it will fill you with righteous anger. I pray it moves you to tears. I pray it causes us to humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and fervently pray for our nation to return to a fear of God. I pray that we will determine that we will discipline ourselves and discover the truth for ourselves, that we will learn His truth (John 17:17), love it, live it, and hold it forth in the midst of this crooked and perverse generation- and if necessary die for it. Otherwise America is lost.
According to Ezekiel 14, only the righteous will survive.
From my heart.
