From a Mother's Heart

Are you a skeptic? Or a believer?   I watched a program some time ago about the different opinions people had about the bodily resurrection of Jesus. Some were true believers; but there were skeptics. They didn’t believe that Jesus appeared to his disciples as a person, but in a spirit form. My Bible has many scriptures that prove their theory as being wrong. The bodily resurrection of Jesus changed his disciples. Let’s go back before the crucifixion to the garden where Jesus was arrested. The disciples were fearful for their own lives. They feared the Jews that were wanting to kill Jesus. (Mark 14:50) They forsook him and fled. Peter followed him afar off to try to watch what was happening. Before long after being questioned about being with Jesus, Peter had denied him three times. (Luke 22:61)—And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Even after the message was given to the disciples that Jesus was risen, John 20:19 reads—the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, then came Jesus and stood in the midst and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. (Verse 22) He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Eight days later he appeared unto them again, and the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace be unto you.” Thomas was not with them the first time, and when the disciples told him that Jesus was risen, he didn’t believe. The second time Jesus came unto them, Thomas was there: (John 20:27-29) Then said he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; reach hither, thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. This is one of the reasons I believe Jesus was in a human body form. He bore the scars in his hands and in his side. (Verse 29) Jesus saith unto him, Thomas because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Jesus also appeared to them the third time by the sea of Tiberias where they were fishing. Jesus prepared a fired and they ate fish together. I don’t believe a spirit could literally eat fish. Jesus himself said in Luke 24:39 Behold my hands, and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. By studying scripture we can understand the changes that came over the disciples when they realized that their leader was risen as he had told them. (Luke 24:44,45) And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. Jesus gave them the great commandment that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Mark 16:15,16,19,20) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth, and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. They were no longer fearful men, but courageous men endued with power. They preached the word with boldness, and sacrificed their lives for the cause of Christ. They were stoned, beheaded, killed with the sword, beaten, scorned, thrown in jail. Many were the sufferings they endure for the sake of Christ. I truly believe Jesus died to save us from our sins; was resurrected and sits at the right hand of the Father. He has a place prepared for all those that believe and keep his commandments. When you come to know Jesus as Lord, a change will take place in you also. At least it should, and we should all be a witness and tell the good news everywhere. (Ephesians 4:23,24) Be renewed in the spirit of you mind; and put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Be a believer and let us labor in love together - - from my heart.
