New maps could highlight town, link hikers to services

LaFOLLETTE—In order to “highlight downtown LaFollette and its rich history,” the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce is producing maps.
These maps should draw Cumberland Trail hikers to LaFollette, leading to economic development, according to Corey Barbour, Chamber Vista. The maps “give them something to pick up and walk to downtown LaFollette after they’re done hiking.”
A connector trail links downtown to the Cumberland Trail at Tank Springs.
The Campbell County Historical Society provided pictures and resources to help construct the map and the Chamber is publishing the map with the help of sponsors—so far Y-12 Federal Credit Union and the city of LaFollette have sponsored the map. Two thousand copies will initially be printed, but Barbour hopes to print more.
The maps will be widely distributed at local outlets, Barbour said. “Hopefully everywhere from LaFollette to Caryville.”
