The food mission at Faith Way Assembly of God, See the Need, will not be open this month to distribute food. They will be open next month.   Campbell County Retired Teachers will meet April 16 at noon at Shoney’s in Caryville.   The Campbell County Humane Society will hold its monthly meeting April 16 at 7 p.m. at the LaFollette Recreation Center.   The Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center’s Digital Mammography Unit will be conducting screening mammograms in the Campbell County area on April 16 at 9 a.m. Most insurance will be filed. Please bring insurance card for filing and driver’s license at the time of service. The drawing will be held April 16, to purchase a ticket call the Senior Center at 566-6672.   A candlelight program by the Campbell County Cancer Association will be held to honor the service of the late Rev. Glen Petree to the organization and in remembrance and honor of Cancer victims and survivors. The illumination program will be held at the LaFollette City Park on April 17 at 7 p.m.   Community Health of East Tennessee Clothes Closet will be open on April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All clothing and household items are free to those in need. Donations of sheets, bedding, towels and kitchen items are needed. Spring and summer clothes are now available.   Alla Faye’s Walk A Mile With Me Health Walk will be held April 18 at 9 a.m. at Indian Mountain State Park. This is not a race, prizes will be given away, free blood pressure checks. For more information contact 784-8018 after 1 p.m.   Cove Lake Hiking Club will meet at Food Lion at 9 a.m. on April 18. John Redmon will lead the group on an exciting hike in the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.  The hike is approximately 4 miles. All interested people who wish to help plan the June 4,5 and 6, 2010 LaFollette High School Reunion should attend.   American Legion Post 58 will host its annual election on April 20 at 7 p.m. at the post. For more information call 566-6457.   The Campbell County Special Education Department will be conducting a Preschool Screening Program (Child Find) on April 20, 21, 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. this program is to identify children ages three to five who may have an undiagnosed disability or a handicapping condition. Children will be tested by Campbell County teachers, speech-language pathologists, physical therapist, occupational therapist and nurses. The areas tested are cognitive skills, speech-language skills, personal-social skills, motor skills, adaptive skills, vision and hearing. The testing will be located at Jellico Community Center and the LaFollette Recreation Center. There will be a covered dish dinner at 6 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. For further information, call 562-7606.   A Diabetic support group meeting will be held April 23 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County in the executive conference room. A light lunch will be served.   The Friends of Norris Lake will meet at the LaFollette Community Center on April 23, with an executive committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. and a general membership meeting at 7 p.m. to discuss the proposed 799 slip marina at Heatherly’s Point.   The 2nd annual Relay for Life $100K Shootout 4-Ball Golf Scramble Sponsored by the Roane State Team will be held April 24 at 1 p.m. at the LaFollette Golf and Country Club. Each winning team member gets a shot at $100K. Also, win a Sharp LCD TV, Callaway Irons and Roundtrip Airline tickets for two. Please, leave a message.   The Norris Lake Coast Guard Auxiliary will meet on April 28 at Cove Lake State Park Pavilion beginning at 6 p.m. for training; participants must be 17 years old.   The Senior Citizens Center will host a covered dish night on April 30. The cover charge is $3 per person. If you cannot make a dish to share, a $3 donation can be made to the center. Drinks are additional. Potluck will start at 6 p.m. and the band will begin at 7 p.m.   UT Extension of Campbell County will be offering free Arthritis exercise classes Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. throughout the month of April.  Classes will be held at the LaFollette First Baptist Church, 255 W. Central Avenue.  Please call the UT Extension office at 562-9474 to register.       Bariatric, weight loss surgery, support group meeting for those who would like to come is held at the Recreation Center the third Monday of the month, April 20, at 7 p.m. For more info call 566-2298 after 5 p.m.   The West Crabtree and Claborn Reunion will be held May 2 at 11 a.m. Bring two dishes and drinks.   Calvary Christian Academy and Daycare will have a summer program beginning May 26 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for children of all ages. The cost for the summer program is $85 per child, a 10- percent discount is available for two or more children per family, Douglas Cherokee children are also welcome. The children will receive a healthy and nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack. Anyone interested in the program should call Penny Goddard at 562-7267 for more information.   The Tennessee Career Center at Jacksboro is now taking applications for the 2009 Summer Youth Training Program. The summer youth program will provide up to eight weeks of paid work experience from June 1, and continues until July 24. The work week will consist of 30 hours each week and workers will earn minimum wage. In order to participate, the young person must be at least 16 and no older than 24 years old. Income eligibility guidelines apply. Anyone interested in participating in the summer work experience may fill out an application at the Career Center or for more information, call the Career Center at 566-3333, ext. 4, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and ask to speak with Randy Brown or Tina Hatfield.   The Class of 1979 will hold a class reunion on Aug. 1 at the LaFollette Country Club at 7 p.m. A small donation to offset expenses would be appreciated but is not required.
