Registration forms for the annual Campbell County Christmas parade can be obtained by calling 562-4961.

The Operation Roundup Board will meet on Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held in the LaFollette Utility Board conference room. 

The SMCC dietary department with coats for the cold will be distributing items on Nov. 18 from 2 – 6 p.m. on a first come first serve basis.

The town of Jellico will host a swearing in ceremony of newly elected officials on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m., followed by a reception for council from 6:15 – 6:30 p.m. and monthly council meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The Humane Society of Campbell County will meet on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at the LaFollette Recreation Center.

The Campbell County Historical Society will meet Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Historic Wedding Chapel. There will be a reception and tour of the newly redecorated wedding chapel.

Community Health Family Services Center Clothes Closet will be open Nov. 19. All items will be 25 cents.

 

The Lions Club of Campbell County will meet Nov. 22, 6 -6:30 p.m. bring your supper, 6:30-7:30 p.m. business at the First Presbyterian Church in the meeting room behind the church.  Contact Lion Carol McDonald 563-0057 for more information.

 

Campbell County Shrine Club will hold its monthly meeting Nov. 22 at the DAV building. There will be an election of officers. Pot luck is planned, please bring a covered dish. Dinner at 6 p.m. meeting at 7 p.m.

The LaFollette Street and Sanitation Department will be closed on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. Thursday and Friday’s garbage will be picked up on Nov. 29.

Ginny's Pet Rescue, a 501c3 public charity will partner with Iams Home for the Holidays for a second year at Woodson's Mall on Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Dogs, some cats and nine kittens are available for adoption.  All pets are vetted and spayed/neutered. Fees are reasonable. Baked goods will be available for purchase through donation. 

 

The Laff-A-Lotte Quilt Guild will host its members only Christmas Party at The Quilt Patch on Dec. 1 at 10 a.m.  Please bring a $10 sewing item and food.  Call Joyce at 562-8080 for further information.

Toys for Tots will be accepting applications on Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Campbell County courthouse lobby. For more information visit www.toysfortots.org

The 2010 Elk Valley Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. The parade will begin lining up at the Elk Valley School at 1 p.m. for all entries. Anyone interested in participating should call Aline Ford at (423) 912-5107.

 

Community Health of East Tennessee will offer the Parenting Education Seminar for Divorcing Parents on Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Community Health Administration Office, 507 Main Street, Jacksboro.  Registration forms are available at the Administrative Office in Jacksboro.  Pre-registration is $30.  Registration paid on the day of the class is $40.  Call 563-1040 or 562-1156 for more details.

The Jellico Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. The parade will start from the high school area and follow the same route as in years past. Cash prizes will be awarded in three categories, church, commercial and non-commercial.

 

The Campbell County Children’s Center is offering individuals a chance to make a difference in the life of an abused child. Instead of giving a bottle of lotion or another gift basket for Christmas, individuals can make a monetary donation on the gift recipient’s behalf to the children’s center. The center will send out a card to inform the individual that a donation has been made on their behalf for Christmas.

To report child abuse call the Tennessee toll free hotline number 1-877-237-0004. Child abuse is mistreatment or neglect of a child that results in non-accidental harm or injury:  physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. 

Narcotics Anonymous meets on Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 8 p.m. at 2119 Jacksboro Pike, LaFollette in the Campbell County Unity Association building.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at the Jellico United Methodist Church, 204 Fifth Street, Jellico, on Mondays at 7 p.m.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous meets Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m. at 2119 Jacksboro Pike, LaFollette in the Campbell County Unity Association building. Alcoholics Anonymous also has a hotline, 1-800-905-8666.

Al- Anon for the families of the alcoholic can call (865)525-9040.

 

Celebrate Recovery Meeting is held Thursdays, First Baptist Church Jacksboro, 6:15 light meal, 7:00 large group. Small groups include Life Hurts, God Heals issues: Chemical Dependency, Abuse, Co-dependency, Family Support and more. Excellent program for children, infant to teens.
