Dedication of the 27th Habitat for Humanity house in Campbell County will be held March 24 at 7 p.m. The address is 768 Coolidge Road. For information call 566-7666. 

 

To mark the 75th anniversary of Camp Pellissippi in Andersonville, a reunion is being planned for anyone who ever camped there. A planning meeting for a Camp Pellissippi Reunion will be held at the Great Smoky Mountain Council Scout Office in Knoxville on March 24 at 6:30 p.m. The date for the reunion has been set as Sept. 24.  Contact Ranger Rick King at rickcpranger@aol.com for further details.

 

Campbell County Shrine Club will host a deluxe spaghetti supper, cake sale/auction on March 25 at Campbell County High School. Dinner is from 5 to 7 p.m., $5 donation per person and auction starts at 5:30 p.m. Net proceeds from this event are for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children. Tickets will be available at the door or contact a Shriner.

 

Campbell County Children's Center Motorcycle Charity Ride will be March 26.  Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. at LS Customs in LaFollette.  The ride starts at 11 a.m. and dinner will be after the ride. For more information please call the Campbell County Children's Center at 562-4190 or LS Custom at (423) 912-4934.

 

East Tennessee Disabled American Veterans, Knox County Veteran Service Office and Tennessee Department of Veteran Affairs will be hosting a Veteran Outreach Program to assist veterans, dependents and survivors on March 26 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, 9132 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923.

 

Cumberland Mountain Eagles will host Big Dave The DJ on March 26 at 8 p.m.

 

Jellico's Spring Clean Fling will be held March 26. Business owners and residents are urged to participate in cleaning up the town's appearance. Beginning at 8 a.m. groups will meet at Veterans Park to volunteer. Areas will be assigned to each group. Trash pick-up will also be arranged for residents. Chaniott and Riekardt Studios of Art will host a figure drawing class featuring a live model on March 26 from 10 a.m. – noon. The cost is $12, $10 for CCAA members. Artists should bring large drawing paper and choice of pencil or charcoal. Please contact Terri Chaniott at (423)907-2282 for those who plan to attend.

The Lions Club of Campbell County will meet March 28, 6 -6:30 p.m. pot-luck supper, 6:30-7:30 p.m. business at the First Presbyterian Church, the meeting room behind the church. Contact Lion Carol McDonald 563-0057 for more information.

 

The first semi-annual meeting for 2011 of the Campbell County Public Records Commission (PRC) will be held at 6 p.m., on March 29 at the Roane State LaFollette Campus community room. The agenda will include approval of the minutes for Oct. 27, 2010, status of grants, record operations and other matters appropriately coming before the PRC.

 

Leadership Campbell County is accepting applications for the class year of 2011-2012.  Applications can be obtained at the Chamber of Commerce office, by emailingchamber@campbellcountygov.com or online at www.campbellcountychamber.com. Applications are due by close of business March 31.

 

The neighborhood resident organization of LaFollette Housing Authority will have a yard sale on April 1 and 2 at 9 p.m. Anyone is welcome to set-up, the fee is $3 a space. For more information call (423) 377-5114.

 

Gem City Trading Day in Jellico will be held April 2, at Veterans Park. The event allows the community to sell, trade or give away a variety of goods. Vendor spots are available for $5. The Church of God Mountain Assembly Choir will entertain from the stage area. Future Gem City Trading Day's will be held on the first Saturday for the next three months. The Campbell County Democratic Party will hold a county convention for reorganization on April 2 at 10 a.m. the meeting will be held at the Campbell County Courthouse.

 

The Campbell County High School Band and Boosters are sponsoring a 5K run/walk at Cove Lake State Park on April 9. First place prize will be $150, second place will be $100 and third place will be $50. Other prizes include t-shirts, medals, and trophies. Early entry fee is $15 for students and $20 for adults or $25 on the day of the race. The Campbell County Rural Fire Service third annual bass tournament will be held April 30 at the Rainbow free launch. The entry fee will be $40, fee will be accepted at the ramp from 5 a.m. – 7:15 a.m. Blast off will be 7 a.m. and the tournament will end at 2 p.m., anyone who comes in after 2 p.m. will be disqualified. Prizes and trophies will be awarded; there will be a best boat and junker lunker plaque. For more information contact Lynn Jessie at 871-3945.

 

East LaFollette Baptist Church will have a homecoming on Sept. 4. They are in need of old pictures from the late 1940s to present date, especially of the old buildings. Anyone who contribute should call 562-8852, all photos will be copied and returned.

 

The Prom Closet is accepting gently used dresses and shoes for young ladies to wear to the prom. Donations can be dropped off at Campbell County High School through May 1. For more information contact 562-8308 or Monica Bane at banem@K12tn.net.
