The Synergy Expo 2011 will be held June 9 at Jacksboro Middle School from 2 to 8 p.m., seminars will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. The event is free to the public. For more information visit campbellcountychamber.com or call 566-0329.


The Campbell County Artist Association will have its regular monthly meeting on June 9, at 7 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the Chaniott and Reikardt Studio in the West LaFollette Recreation Building.  John LeMarie will be the guest artist for the evening.  Please bring drawing paper and drawing pencils, for the session. Big Book Sale sponsored by the Friends of the LaFollette Public Library will be held in the gym of the old recreation center on June 10 and 11.  There will be hardback books, paperbacks, magazines, and movies. Prices are very reasonable. Proceeds from this sale will benefit the Friends in their endeavor to support the new library building.  


Campbell County Artists Association will be hosting Buddy Person, AIC for oil paint classes on the following two Saturdays at the Chaniott/Reikardt Studio in the West LaFollette Recreation Center. June 11, he will be doing a landscape and on June 18, he will do a seascape. The cost is $40 per class includes materials and canvass. Bring a roll of paper towels and lunch. The Community Cares/Vista of LaFollette Housing Authority will have its third annual motorcycle ride on June 11. Prizes will be given away before, during and after the ride. Breakfast and registration will be from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. and pulling out at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 per bike or $15 per couple. The Lions Club of Campbell County will meet June 13, 6:00-6:30 p.m. pot-luck supper, 6:30-7:30 p.m. business at the First Presbyterian Church, the meeting room behind the church. Contact Lion Carol McDonald 563-0057 for more information.


Jacksboro Middle School will have cheerleading camp June 13- 15 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages three to 14. The cost is $40 and includes lunch and a t-shirt. Participants must have a copy of insurance card.


Relay for Life wrap up meeting for team captains will be held June 14 at Roane State at 5:30 p.m.


The East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (ETHRA) will be distributing USDA commodities on June 14 at the Jellico Library from 10 a.m. to noon and on June 17 at the Community Center (Old West LaFollette School) beginning at 8:30 a.m. until the food is gone. Please bring a box and someone to carry the food out. For more information call 562-2948.


The Campbell County Historical Society will meet June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Historic Wedding Chapel. Guest speaker will be Karen Cumorich, president of the Campbell County Art Association, who will be speaking on Art in the Community.


Cumberland Mountain Eagles #4363 will have a cookout on June 26 at 4 p.m.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, and salads and happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and free jukebox, $3 a plate. All members please bring a guest.


The Summer Feeding Program  will serve lunches to any child between the ages of two and eighteen at the following locations and times through July 29; South Campbell County; Village Apartments, 11:55- 12:15; Pleasant Ridge Apartments, 11:15-11:40; Jacksboro Middle School, 11:30- 12:30; Crown Pointe Apartments Playground, 12- 12:30, West LaFollette School, 11:30- 12; LaFollette Housing Authority G-2, 11:15- 11:45. Breakfast will be served at Jacksboro Middle School from 8 -8:30. North Campbell County; Elk Valley School, 11:45-12:15; Jellico High School, 11:30- 12; Myrtle St. Housing Authority, 11:30-11:50, Harding St. Housing Authority, 11-11:20, Login St. Housing Authority, 12- 12:20; Indian Mountain State Park, 12:40- 1:10 and Newcomb Baptist Church, 12- 12:45. Breakfast will be served at Jellico High School 8-8:30.


Divorce hurts. Find Help at DivorceCare. DivorceCare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. Sponsored by Jacksboro First Baptist Church, Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. For more information call 562-5168.


Megan Mikesell, field representative for Dennis Powers will be at the Jacksboro City Hall Conference Room on the first Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. until noon.  She will be meeting with anyone who needs help with any state issues.  No appointment is necessary.


Applications for energy assistance are available from East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (ETHRA) until June 3. If you have received an application or assistance since July 1, 2010, you are not eligible to apply again at this time. To receive an application by mail call ETHRA’s Energy Office at 800-552-0127 extension 4825 leaving your name and mailing address. Chaniott and Riekardt Art Studio will be hosting a landscape oil painting class every Thursday from 1 – 3, the fee is $10. Participants must bring their own supplies as well as a 16” X 20” canvas.
