Jellico City Council will meet Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Community Health, formerly REACHS, Clothes Closet will be open on Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. until 2p.m.
The Senior Citizens Center will host its Christmas covered dish party on Dec. 20.
The Historic Speedwell Academy will host an old fashioned Christmas open house on Dec. 20 and 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. Free hot apple cider, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. There is no charge for admission. For directions or information call 566-4533.
The LaFollette Street and Sanitation Departments will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 in observance of Christmas. However, the sanitation department will be picking up garbage on Dec. 24. Thursday’s garbage will be picked up on Dec. 26.
The Jellico Police Department will be conducting safety checkpoints beginning Dec. 31 thru Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in any of the following areas: North Main Street, South Main Street, Walker Road, London Avenue, Creekmore/Housley Road, Sunset Trail, Fifth Street and Indian Mountain Road.
The Senior Citizens New Year’s Eve Party tickets are now available by table number. Party favors will be provided. Single tickets are $8, one couple, $15. The party will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the band will play from 9 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Bring your table, an appetizer and horderves or favorite snack food. Drinks will be available for $1 from the snack bar.

Campbell County High School now has 2006-07 yearbooks available for $50. Yearbooks from former years are discounted to $20. Please call 562-8308, Mrs. Bolton or stop by the school for more information.
The Senior Citizens Center will provide seniors 60 and older, if qualified, a free daily lunch Monday through Friday paid for through a Food Lion Grant. Transportation is provided to and from the center if needed, please call 562-6672 for further information.
The Senior Citizens Center is now open on Saturday nights as well as Thursday nights with the Ole Spice Band. On Thursday night’s door opens at 6 p.m. with music starting at 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the cover charge is $3 for Thursday. On Saturday nights the door opens at 7 p.m. with music starting at 7:30 until 10:30. The cover charge on Saturday is $5. There is a snack bar open each night.
The Senior Citizens Center’s Folk Art Class is held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., open to all ages.
